NIFT 2022 Eligibility

The National Institute of Fashion Technology developed the NIFT 2022 eligibility criteria, which outlines all of the requirements that candidates must meet. Candidates must check that they are eligible to take the exam before applying for it. Various courses have different eligibility requirements. Age limit, educational qualification, reservation policy, nationality, and other aspects are among the NIFT eligibility criteria 2022. General Eligibility for the NIFT Entrance Exam 2022

Before filling out the Application Form, an applicant must meet the fundamental eligibility requirements established by NIFT. The following are the categories for these standards:

On the basis of Academic Qualification

If a candidate in the 12th/final year of college/final year of diploma does not submit his or her examination results at the time of admission or counselling, his or her admission is contingent on the following: -

  • Candidates under the age of 18 must submit an affidavit on non-judicial stamp paper with a value of Rs.10, fully signed by their parent or guardian, in the required Proforma. Falsely submitting a document is a criminal offence.
  • On or before a date to be announced soon, candidates must submit their qualifying degree to the campus director or joint director of the allotted college.
  • A candidate's admission will be considered null and void if he or she fails to provide his or her qualifying degree at the time of application.
  • If a candidate's result has not been released at the time of admission and he or she is applying for provisional admission, he or she must submit necessary proof of passing the examination.
  • Candidates seeking provisional admission must provide their date sheet/admit card/certificate Principal's as proof of exam attendance. Candidates who took the compartment/supplementary test in their 12th or final year of graduation/diploma are in the same boat.
  • Provisional admission candidates will only be considered for admission if the institution or university has not yet released their results. In any other situation, their admission under the provisional admission category may be revoked.

Based on Age

  • For general category candidates, the maximum age allowed as of August 1st of the examination year should be less than 24 years old.
  • For SC/ST or Differently Abled Person (PHP) candidates, the age limit will be relaxed by 5 years.
  • Candidates applying for master's degree programmes have no upper age limit.

Eligibility Criteria for Foreign Candidates at NIFT in 2022

In NIFT 2022, international candidates will be assigned to a campus or programme based on their merit list results. They have the option of taking as many SAT/ GMAT/ GRE tests as they like before April 30, 2022. Candidates seeking admission to NIFT as foreign nationals or non-resident Indians must apply through the official website. Applicants interested in pursuing a bachelor's degree at NIFT should transmit their SAT results directly to the NIFT H.O. in New Delhi. Before April 30, 2022, SAT results must be submitted to NIFT through the College Board. 7258 is the Designated Institution (DI) Code.

Candidates will be assigned to institutes and degree programmes based on their SAT/ GMAT/ GRE scores as well as their preferences. Before being admitted to NIFT, they must also get equivalent certificates of their international degrees from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) in New Delhi. Candidates must use the DI code: 7258 when registering for the SAT in order for their scores to be sent to the NIFT Head Office in New Delhi. Applicants seeking admission in this category should apply online using the approved application form.

Applicants pursuing a master's degree, such as a Masters in Fashion Management (MFM), should make arrangements to deliver their GMAT exam scores. Applicants for the Master of Design (M.Des.) and Master of Fashion Technology (M.F Tech.) programmes, on the other hand, should arrange for their GRE test scores to be sent directly to NIFT H.O. Delhi. Candidates must select the NIFT degree programme when taking the GRE, GMAT, or SAT.

Aspirants who meet the admission criteria for the category may apply online using the NIFT payment channel and pay the required application cost of USD 125.

Eligibility Criteria for Children and Wards of NRIs (NIFT Eligibility Criteria 2022)

The NRI seats that are no longer needed will not be changed to another category. However, seats in the NRI category that remain empty after the aforementioned process will be offered to NRI children/wards on a merit basis during counselling.

Candidates who received a Common Merit Rank (CMR) in the NIFT entrance test and who fall into the category of "Children/ Wards of NRI" would be eligible to apply for NRI seats if they meet the NIFT eligibility criteria 2022 and submit all required papers and fees during regular counselling.

Within the overall limit established for this category, NIFT may re-allot seats between programmes to meet candidate demand.

Eligibility per NIFT Category

The categories' NIFT eligibility criteria 2022 varied as well. Candidates must check their eligibility according to their category before applying for the admission exam. The many types of NIFT exam eligibility are described below.

Eligibility for the NIFT Exam for SC/ ST Candidates

Candidates applying under the reserved quota must present a Caste/Tribe certificate issued by the Competent Authorities of the appropriate States/Union Territories/National Commission of Tribes.

Eligibility for the NIFT Exam for OBC (Non-Creamy) Candidates

The following are the requirements for applicants in the OBC (Non-Creamy) category

  • The candidates must have an OBC certificate issued in their own name, not in the name of their parents or guardians.
  • The OBC certificate should be no more than a year old, and it should state explicitly that the candidate is from the Non-Creamy layer. The Competent Authority must issue the certificate.
  • If a married woman applies to a reserved-category course, she must present a caste certificate in her own name. A certificate signed by a husband, mother, or father will be rejected.

PHP NIFT Exam Eligibility (Differently Abled Candidates)

Candidates who are physically disabled must provide a copy of their Disability Certificate along with their application. Both at the time of counselling and acceptance to the programme, such candidates must present the Original Medical Certificate.

Candidates with special needs must attend a counselling session to be evaluated. After examining the candidates' ability, the course will be assigned to them. NIFT may approve applications from PHP students for external assistance during evaluations, but only if the student/applicant is willing to for all of the costs.

However, it is recommended that the student/applicant arrange for an external helper for this purpose, since this will ensure that the student/needs applicants are better met. At the time of counselling, candidates are urged to prepare for such an examination.

Candidates who are foreign nationals, SAARC members, or NRIs

The following examination scores will be used to determine admission to NIFT programmes for foreign nationals/ NRI candidates.
