NIFT 2022 Exam Pattern

The CAT (Creative Aptitude Test), GAT (General Ability Test), and GD/PI are all part of the NIFT 2022 Exam Pattern. Those for B.Des and M.Des must take both the CAT and the GAT, whilst candidates for B.FTech and M.FTech must only take the GAT. Candidates for B.Des and M.Des will also be subjected to a Situation Test. NIFT 2022 will take place on February 6, 2022.

Due to the rising covid case, NIFT 2022 will now be administered online as a proctored examination, according to the most recent official statement from NIFT. On January 23, 2022, the official website will post complete instructions for the same.

  • Admission to NIFT 2022 will be based on candidates' performance in the B.F.Tech, M.F.Tech, M.F.M, B.Des, and M.Des programmes.
  • To be admitted to the course of their choice, candidates must pass each step of the exam separately.
  • The question paper will only be available in English. For incorrect replies, no points will be removed.

NIFT Exam Guidelines for Remote Online Test

The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) has released the following rules for conducting the remote online test on February 6, 2022.

  • All candidates must have a desktop or laptop computer at home, as well as an Android phone that will be used to monitor the candidates from behind.
  • Only the Google Chrome browser can be used to take the exam.
  • For this test, candidates must ensure that their microphones and webcams are in functioning order.
  • Candidates must enter their roll numbers and passwords, which will be printed on their admit cards, to log in.
  • All candidates must complete the camera verification on their desktops/laptops after logging in.
  • The room where the candidate is taking the exam must have adequate lighting, and no one else may enter that room for the length of the exam.
  • The AI-enabled system or the online proctor will intervene and cancel the exam if the candidate is determined to be using any form of unfair means to take the exam.
  • During the test, no potty breaks will be permitted. During the test, candidates are only allowed to bring a bottle of water with them.

Exam Phases of the NIFT 2022

The examination is divided into two phases.

Phase 1: Paper Based Test (PBT) - All undergraduate and graduate programmes are required to take this test (CAT and GAT exam).

B.Des and M.Des programmes: Phase 2: Paper Based Test (PBT) (CAT and GAT exam).

Phase 2: Computer-based testing (CBT) for B.F.Tech, MFM, and M.F.Tech programmes (GAT exam).

Quantitative Ability: Addition, Multiplication, Division, Fractions, Percentage, Rate of Interest, Work & Task, Ratio & Proportion, and Distance Synonyms, antonyms, words with matching meanings, single, plural, one-word substitutions, idioms & phrases, accurate spellings are all examples of communication ability and English comprehension.
