NID DAT 2022 Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility for Ex NID DAT 2022 Criteria vary depending on the course a candidate is applying for (B.Des, M.Des), and are divided into two categories: age limit requirements and educational requirements. On January 2, 2022, the National Institute of Design (NID) will hold the NID DAT Prelims 2022 to select students for Bachelor of Design (B.Des) and Master of Design (M.Des) programmes.

Before filling up the NID 2022 Application Form, candidates must meet the eligibility requirements. NID 2022 Eligibility comprises the candidates' age and academic qualifications.

Applicants to NID's B.Des degree must first finish a one-year foundation programme. After completing the foundation programme, the candidate will be assigned to a discipline based entirely on his or her previous year's performance and the number of seats available in the targeted discipline. The medium of instruction and correspondence at NID is English.

Eligibility Criteria for NID DAT 2022 Bachelor of Design

All applicants for this course must meet the following requirements:

Age Limit Educational Qualification
Candidates for this course must be equal to or below 20 years old on July 30, 2022. Candidates from the reserved categories are eligible for a three-year age reduction in the maximum age limit. Candidates born before July 1, 2002 are ineligible for the General Category.
Candidates born before July 1, 1999 are ineligible for the Reserved Category (OBC-NCL, SC, ST, & PH).
Candidates who are taking or have already passed the Higher Secondary (10+2) examinations from AISSCE/IB/ICSE or any other qualifying examinations recognised Board during the academic year 2021-2022 are eligible to apply for NID DAT 2022

NID DAT 2022 Eligibility

Education Equivalent to Class XII Exams Exams considered equivalent to Class 12 are as follows:

  • Intermediate or two-year pre-university examinations administered by a board or university recognised by the Association of Indian Universities. Any final examination certificate of the 10+2 system conducted by a central or state board recognised by the Association of Indian Universities or respective State Governments.
  • The final year certificate from the National Defence Academy's Joint Services Wing's two-year programme (NDA).
  • Senior secondary school certificate from the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) in at least five courses.
  • An examination recognised by the AIU as similar to the 10+2 system and administered by any public school, board, or university in India or overseas.
  • The GCE test's advanced (A) level (London, Cambridge or Sri Lanka)
  • Cambridge University conducts the high school certificate test or the International Baccalaureate Diploma at the International Baccalaureate Office in Geneva.
  • Candidates who completed their 10+2 or comparable examination outside of India, or who graduated from a board or university not listed above, must submit an Association of Indian Universities certificate.

Master of Design NID DAT 2022 (M.Des)

At its Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, and Gandhinagar campuses, NID provides a 2.5-year Masters degree in the following fields. The table below displays the number of seats available at the Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, and Gandhinagar campuses in each specialty discipline. Each of the disciplines of competence listed in the table below has two Supernumerary seats reserved for candidates from other countries.

Eligibility Criteria for NID 2022 Master of Design

The following qualifications must be met by applicants for the Master's programme at NID:

Age Limit Educational Qualification
Candidates applying for this course must be at less than or equal to 30 years old on July 30, 2022. The upper age restriction for candidates from the reserved categories can be reduced by three years.
Candidates born before July 1, 1992, would be disqualified for the General category. Candidates born before July 1, 1989, would be disqualified for the Reserved category (OBC-NCL, SC, ST, & PH).
Candidates must have passed or be scheduled to take the following exams by July 2022:
Bachelor's degree in any discipline from any recognised Indian university or institute under the 10+2+4 scheme.
Under the 10+2+4 programme, a Diploma in Design from any recognised university or institute.

OR

Candidates must have passed or be scheduled to take the following tests by July 2022:
Bachelor's degree in any discipline from any of India's recognised Institutes or Universities under the 10+2+3 scheme.

NOTE: If the candidate has acquired a degree/certificate from a foreign university/board, an Equivalence Certificate must be obtained from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi, prior to admission

Eligibility Criteria for Overseas Candidates in NID 2022

Under the overseas candidate’s category, candidates with citizenship from countries other than the Republic of India are eligible to apply. In the B.Des and M.Des programmes, 15% of the supernumerary seats are in the abroad category.

  • NRIs must apply as Indian nationals only.
  • Candidates with a valid PIO or OCI status and a foreign passport can apply under either the 'Indian' or 'Overseas' category. Candidates who apply under the abroad category must pay fees that are comparable to those imposed to foreign citizens.
  • Only online applications will be accepted for candidates applying under the Overseas Category. In this case, the official admissions website is admissions.nid.edu.
  • Candidates pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in the international category will only be able to take the DAT at the Ahmedabad campus, which will be followed by Stage 2 and Stage 3 examinations.
  • The candidates must print their NID hall tickets, which will be available for download on the official website.
  • To accept an offer of admission, overseas candidates must appear in person before the authorities of the particular NID campus.

Documents Required for Foreign Candidates to Apply

Candidates must provide originals as well as verified copies of the following documents.

  • Attested copy of the candidate's passport
  • For B.Des candidates, attested copies of their SSC and HSC mark sheets are required.
  • M.Des candidates must submit attested copies of their SSC, HSC, and completed years of graduate marksheets, as well as a degree certificate/provisional certificate/passing certificate.
  • An equivalency certificate must be submitted before to the admissions process if the candidate is a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

Before beginning the programme, the candidate must apply for a student visa at the relevant NID Institute for the duration of the course. The application of selected applicants will be cancelled if they are unable to pay the relevant fees or provide the required papers prior to registration. Unfilled seats will not be transferred to another category and will expire.
