JEE Main Eligibility based on Age

In terms of the JEE Main 2022 exam, there is no upper age limit for applicants. JEE Main is open to those who have finished class 12 at a school or institution recognised by the Indian government. Regardless of age, candidates who scored over JEE Main eligibility marks in class 12/equivalent examinations in 2020 or 2021 or who are sitting for their board examinations in 2022 are eligible to sit for the JEE Main 2022 exam. However, the candidate's age may be restricted by the institute to which he or she is applying.

As a result, all candidates should examine each college's eligibility age criterion or the JEE Main eligibility criteria of the institutes they are interested in.

JEE Main eligibility based on Nationality

In terms of nationality, the JEE Main 2022 eligibility criteria say that only the code of the state in which a candidate completed his or her 12th grade examinations is taken into account when determining whether or not a candidate is eligible to take the JEE Main exam. Any aspiring applicant who has passed or is scheduled to take the NIOS class 12th should select the state code of eligibility that corresponds to the state where the study centre is located. The state code of eligibility for Indian applicants who pass the Class XII (or equivalent) examination at a foreign institution shall be determined based on the permanent address in India as shown in the passport.

Similarly, the State code of eligibility for Indian applicants clearing the Class XII (or equivalent) examination in Nepal/Bhutan will be decided based on the permanent address in India as stated in the passport.

The state code of eligibility for OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) or PIO (Person of Indian Origin) aspirants who complete their class 12 or any comparable exam in India is the same as for an Indian citizen. In any case, individuals in this category who have passed their class 12 test from a foreign institution are only eligible for Other State Quota Seats or All India Quota Seats (but strictly not for Home State Quota Seats). They are eligible for NITs, IIEST, and other CFTI.
